Aims

By providing new tenants with starter packs of household goods and bedding, SPA aims to:

• relieve poverty, hardship and financial pressure
• provide basic support to vulnerable people during a time of crisis
• promote their quality of life
• assist people to access and sustain a tenancy
• promote a sense of community.

Strategies

The Management Committee has appointed and supports a Project Co-ordinator to:

• co-ordinate the recycling and redistribution of good quality household goods donated from the local community
• purchase new household goods to supplement donated stock
• recruit, support and train volunteers from the local community to sort and pack household goods and to undertake other tasks to support the operation of the project
• recruit service users as volunteers
• network with referring organizations to identify households in need of the service and to arrange delivery of the starter packs
• promote the service
• continually explore avenues to secure additional funding for project development.
